Lori here with a great Valentine's Day gift idea. 

My husband is REALLY hard to shop for, but I know that I can't go wrong with a fun evening and food.  I used the Fancy Pants Country Boutique to make this bottle holder gift.

So begin by gathering your supplies.

May Arts - Black/White 1/2" ribbon
Sewing Machine and red thread
Adhesive
Circle hole punch

Create the pocket out of the black corrugate sheet.  Cut a small piece of the Lydia paper to fit on the front pocket.  I drew a heart with a pencil, then used my sewing machine to sew the shape.  I went over it 2 times to help define the shape.

I loved the ticket from the die cut pack that said Good times, admit one.....It was PERFECT for this project!  I mounted it red cardstock  and adhered it to the Lydia paper.  I tied the May Arts Black and white ribbon around the card too, then I sewed again the parts that covered up the heart.  I cut the holder into the shape of a tag, and punched a hole at the top.

Now all that was left to do was write a note on the red cardstock tag, fill it with some fun stuff, (in this case chocolate and a gift card for dinner), and give it as a gift.  This would also make a great gift for a wedding, an anniversary, a birthday gift....whatever!

I have to admit, I love making Valentines.  This is one of my favorite things to do with my kids.  It has become tradition to mass produce the class valentines on Super Bowl sunday.  While the guys watch the football game, the girls craft the night away.  In my opinion, it is a total win-win situation!  

So as the big day approaches, I am starting to plan out some Valentine ideas, and I thought I would share with you.  If you order supplies from The Hens Den, with their super fast shipping you can have all your supplies you need in time for a Super Bowl scrap-fest of your own.

Start by gathering your supplies.

Teresa Collins Houndstooth cardstock

Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Journaling tickets

Petaloo CAnterbury Collection Magnolia Blossoms

May Arts Red Burlap ribbon

Adhesive

Sewing machine (optional)

Circle punch

Create your pocket by folding a cardstock rectangle in half.  Sew around 3 sides, leaving one for an opening.  Use the circle punch to cut the tab at the top.  Tie the burlap ribbon on the side.

The base is a Tim Holtz journaling tag.  The Teresa Collins, I love you sticker, is popped up on the tag.  And to finish it off, I used a petaloo flower.  Add some adhesive to the back and stick the tag to the pocket.

All that's left is to add your name in the blank space on the tag, fill it with treats and give it someone you love.

My sketches featured on Teresa Collins design team blog

I was so excited when my friend Sesil asked if I could design some card sketches for her to use on the Teresa Collins Design team blog.  I was more than happy to whip her up a few, and her cards turned out BEAUTIFUL!!!  I thought I would share them with you all and hope that they could inspire more beautiful cards too.  Let me know what you think.

Laminate sample Key chains

Some of my favorite craft stores aren't really craft stores.  Like The Home Depo or Lowe's.  I have a great idea for you today using counter laminate samples to make a scrappy key chain.  I love mine!  It is not huge, but big enough that I am no longer losing my keys and it really shows of my style and personality.  The guys at the gym now refer to me as crafty keys.......  (I love when a man takes notice of my creative side and dives into a crafty discussion.)

  So to begin, help yourself to a few laminate samples.  (Or if you're like me, fill your purse).  They come in lots of colors, but I loved the solid colors and stuck with mainly black and cream colors.

Now there is no rule about how or what to do, just create.  I used some modge podge to glue patterned paper to the back side.  (I left the colored side you see in the photo alone and it became the back side of the keychain, and gave it a more finished look).
Add stickers, ribbon, buttons, baubles, bling and anything else you want.  The laminate samples come with holes already drilled in them, like they are begging to be craft-ified.  Add your chain, hook it to your keys and flaunt your creativity and style everywhere you go.  For more instructions check out my tutorial in The Hens Den newsletter here.  http://stores.thehensden.com/newsletter.html

Something sketchy going on.....

I have loved using sketches for years.  I like having something to refer to when I am stumped, and I get stumped often.

I am so excited to be starting to design sketches for The Hens' Den.  Here is my first one.

Cake pan Clock

Featuring Teresa Collins Fabrication Linen line and Petaloo flowers

Decorative clock made from a dollar store cake pan.

Begin by gathering  your supplies.  You will need:

A cake pan (I got mine from the dollar store)

A Clock mechanism (great item to use a coupon on)

Pattern paper - Teresa Collins lines are Georgous! 

Assorted embellishments 

Drill

Adhesive

Pop dots

So this is how my project started.....

1. Begin by marking the center of your pan.  Use your drill (yea, power tools), to make a hole that your clock mechanism will fit through.

2. Take your cake pan and turn it upside-down.  Draw a circle the size of the bottom of your pan and cut it out.  (Note:  The black and ivory paper is the opposite side to the Teresa Collins Fabrications Linen Green Fleur De Lis)

3.  Adhere the paper circle to the bottom of the cake pan, and poke a hole in the paper where your center hole is.  The paper hung over a tiny bit, so I rolled the edges to give a bit of texture and interest.

4. Start adding your embellishment to the front of your clock.  I used several of the pieces from the Teressa Collins die cut sheet.  Use pop dots to give some dimension.  You can also add petaloo flowers, Teresa Collins buttons and some of the stickers from the Fabrication Linen line.  I added the Teressa Collins rhinestones and brads for the numbers.  Make sure you have a hole for the clock to go into.

5.  Put your clock mechanism through the hole and add the hands.

6.  Cut 3/4 inch strips of the Teressa Collins green brocade.  Line the strip up against the edge of the pan, fold it back and forth to create the curved ruffle.  Glue it to the pan.
