I'M SUPER EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE.............

I have a cute Valentine's Day/ Love project being published in the new Cricut Magazine.!!!!!  If you haven't heard of the new Cricut Magazine here is a link to their website, check it out.  www.cricutmagazine.com   
The premiere issue will be out just after the first of the new year.  They also have a facebook page if you are interested.  I am packing up my project this week and sending it to California to be photographed for the magazine.  After it is published, I will post pictures and instructions here on my blog!!  Thanks to everyone who supports me.

Jelly Bean box.....

The other day my sweet husband came home with this box of Jelly Bellys.  He was sitting in his chair slowly eating them and sharing them with the kids.  I was so intrigued with the box that I forced him to dump out the jelly beans and hand over the box.  I promptly took the box apart and confidently decided that I could make one with  my gypsy.  I started that night and got the basic design done.  I took my gypsy with me to the Best Buy demo and decided to work on the box while I was demoing since I had only used the George and Basic shapes cart to design it.  I had to modify a bit and nudge a little.  It took me 11 tries but I finally got the box to work.  I even got it to make the pfftt......sound the original box makes when  you open it.  I was trilled with that part the most.

I decided that I wanted something cute to give the girls I teach on Sunday, (they lovingly call me Sister Craftypants), and so I knew I needed to do something great.  I made the jelly bean boxed and filled them with Mike and Ike candies.  I ties a ribbon around them and attached a copy of a poem that is part of the lesson.  I am super excited about this one and I hope all enjoy that get a jelly bean box tomorrow.

Little red wagon

I have always loved a little red wagon.  I had one when I was a child and we played with it until the wheels fell off.  I remember how we would load it up with all kinds of things and haul them here and there.  One of the Cricut carts I have been demoing for the Best Buy program is Just Because Cards, and it has the cutest wagon cut on there.  Remembering back to my childhood days, I loaded up the cute red wagon with essentials any child might need for a "lazy day".  I cut the card and envelope at 5 inches using the personal cricut machine.  I used a file folder for the card and made a matching envelope to go with it.  Inside I hand wrote "Enjoy a" and cut the words "lazy day" from the cartridge as well.  I love the way it turned out and shows that you can make decent sized cards and envelopes with the Baby bug.  I hope you like and get to enjoy a lazy day soon.

Jacob.....Edward....who can choose?

My oldest daughter will be starting Jr. High tomorrow, and she wanted me to make her a special bag to use to carry all her books in.  She is a huge Twilight fan and wanted a bag that would convey that, but she couldn't pick a side Jacob or Edward.  To solve that problem we did wolf theme on one side and vampire theme on the other.  We looked for some of Jessies favorite quotes from the books to screen on her bag.  For the wolf side, I screened the wolf tattoo in silver first, then screened the words "Who's afraid of the Big Bad WOLF?" in white over top of that.  I added some amethesist jewels to help the words stand out a bit more.  It is hard to see in the pictures, but I promise that it looks better in person.

 On the Vampire side I screened the Cullen family crest in white first, then the quote "It's all fun and games until someone gets a paper cut", in red.  I accented it with aridecent and red jems.  She is so excited to start a new school year with a custom bag that will make for some great conversation.

CTR, choose the right.

This is one of those times when I say "The pictures don't do it justice, it looks so much better in person". 

To make this project I used a screen that I made for girls camp earlier this summer.  The nice thing about screen printing is that you can reuse the same screen over and over and make it a little different each time.  For girls camp we screened this image with white on orange backpacks, but I wanted a little more sophisticated look.  I got the black bag at Hobby Lobby for $5.00 using a 40% off coupon.  I screened the artwork, (drawn by my talented husband, Shane) in silver, then I embellished using red and silver rhinestones using the Darice rhinestone setter.  This is quickly becoming a favorite tool of mine.  Of course, I finished it off by adding some ribbon polka dot, with silver edges and WAH-LA, perfection. I will be using this bag to carry all my stuff to and from church, in STYLE.

Lantern Cricut-Gypsy combo....50 years

On Saturday August 7th, we celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary.  I made some decorations for the tables.  We had different pictures from the wedding reception on the tables, and I made these lanterns using my gypsy and cricut.  Inside were a silouette of a bride and groom on one side and the Salt Lake temple on the other side.  I had battery operated tealights inside that highlighted the shadows.  It was so windy that the lids would not stay on, so all pictures were taken with the lids off.  To help tie everything together I made the flowers to accent the pictures and the lanterns.  I was really happy with the way they all turned out.  I would love to know what you all think.

This little piggy.........

Here is a simple pig I made using only shapes from the George and Basic shapes cartridge.  It is easy to make and can illustrate how easy it is to create some amazing and adorable art simply from shapes:

To make the pig cut:
Body - 4 1/2 in. oval
Head - 3 in. oval
Nose - 1 in. oval
Ears - 1 in. rounded triangle, cut 2
Eyes - using the sign feature key cut the circle @ 1 in (that way the circles are tiny inside the sign)
Nostrils - using the sign feature cut the elongated oval @ 1 in.
Tail - cut the letter S @ 1 inch
Legs - cut 4 rounded rectangles @ 1 in.
Hoofs - using the sign feature cut the tall heart 4 times @ 1 in.

I used pop dots and ink to jazz that piggy up.
